Move2Play Baby Gym Deluxe sold via Amazon rejected at border over choking risk

A Product Safety Report issued by the Office for Product Safety and Standards concerns the Move2Play Baby Gym Deluxe, sold via Amazon, which the report says presents a risk of choking. The product is a baby activity gym comprising three wooden arch legs with detachable feet, a battery-operated piano, a fabric tummy-time mat, a wooden teether ring and hanging sensory toys, supplied in retail packaging with an age recommendation of 3 months and above.

According to the report, the battery compartment of the piano can open following impact, allowing the three AAA batteries to be released. The batteries fit wholly within the small parts cylinder and could therefore be placed in the mouth and swallowed by a child under 36 months, potentially causing choking. The wooden teething ring can also break into pieces following impact, and the report states the broken components are small parts which could become lodged in the mouth or throat of a child who cannot sit up unaided, potentially causing internal airway obstruction.

The report states the product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. The corrective action recorded is that the import has been rejected at the border.

Product details given in the report are brand Move2play, model JT2604 Deluxe, Amazon ASIN B0FJSV1YNL, SKU GYM.101, country of origin China. The PSD case number is 2610-0190 and the notice was notified by Local Authority Trading Standards. The notice gives no consumer refund or replacement procedure.
