Decathlon has recalled the HAMAX Buddy Baby Seat from end users because a textile safety label attached to the harness strap may detach and create a small part, presenting a choking risk to young children, according to a product recall notice published on GOV.UK. The notice states the product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
The affected product is described as a red and black baby seat attachment for a bicycle, brand HAMAX, model code 8591602, item code 4091054, sold between 28 December 2020 and 6 August 2026. The notice gives the country of origin as unknown. The recall carries PSD notification number 2610-0181 and was notified by Local Authority Trading Standards.
The notice recommends keeping the product out of reach of children until the label is removed. Decathlon has advised consumers to check the shoulder harness strap on the seat and, if the textile label shown in the notice's image is present, to cut it completely off the harness strap. Once the label has been removed, the choking hazard is eliminated and the seat may be used, according to the notice. Seats without this label are not affected.
Alternatively, the notice says consumers can bring the product to their nearest Decathlon store for label removal, or for a refund. Further information is available at decathlon.co.uk/lp/c/product-recall or by contacting customer.enquiries@decathlon.com, the notice states.
